Toy safety
People first
The first step of our “people first, profit second” approach is children’s safety. This page explains which rules our plush toys are made to and what the marks on the labels mean.
Legal framework
- Toy Safety Regulation (Turkish legislation aligned with EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC): sets the essential safety requirements for toys placed on the market.
- CE marking: shows that the manufacturer declares the toy meets the applicable safety requirements. It appears on the toy, its label or packaging.
- EN 71 series: harmonised toy-safety standards. For plush toys EN 71-1 (mechanical and physical properties), EN 71-2 (flammability) and EN 71-3 (migration of certain elements) typically apply.
Legislation changes (e.g. the new EU Toy Safety Regulation). Confirm current obligations with your compliance adviser.
Standards applied to our products
Halley plush toys are tested to [applied standards, e.g. EN 71-1, EN 71-2, EN 71-3] by [test laboratory]. Each product lists its applied standards in the “Safety & conformity” section of its page.
Reading age warnings
- “Not suitable for children under 3 years” (often shown with a crossed-out baby face) means the toy may contain small parts and could be a choking hazard for children under 36 months.
- The age shown on product pages (e.g. “0+”, “3+”) reflects the age grading on the product label. The label warning always prevails.
Use and care
- Remove all packaging (bags, tag strings, cardboard) before giving the toy to a child.
- Check seams, eyes and nose regularly; do not use worn or damaged toys.
- Washing: [washing/care instruction from the label].
